How to connect Main and Sub fans using a daisy-chain?

Hey everyone, it’s MONSTER’s here, and today we’re diving into the world of case fans—specifically, the Master and Slave fan setup! So, what exactly are Master and Slave fans?
In simple terms, a Master fan controls the lighting and speed, while Slave fans follow the Master’s signals. This setup is often used in daisy-chain connections, where multiple fans can be connected together for synchronized effects—making your build cleaner and more organized.

Step-by-Step Daisy Chain Fan Connection Tutorial

How to connect fans with a multi-fan hub?

The FAN HUB includes:

▪︎ 6 × ARGB 5V 3-pin Ports

For connecting addressable RGB fans or ARGB devices.

▪︎ 6 × PWM 4-pin Fan Ports

GB header to sync lighting effects.

▪︎ 1 × Motherboard Sync ARGB Header (5V 3-pin)

Connect to your motherboard’s 5V ADD-RGB header to sync lighting effects.

▪︎ 1 × Motherboard Sync PWM Header (4-pin)

Connect to your motherboard’s CPU_FAN / SYS_FAN header for speed control.

▪︎ 1 × LED Button Header (2-pin)

Connect the case’s LED button for manual lighting control when motherboard sync is not used.

▪︎ 1 × SATA Power Port

Connect to your PSU’s SATA power cable to supply stable power to all connected fans and ARGB devices.

Installation Steps:

1.Connect LED Button

▫︎ Connect the 2-pin LED Button Cable from the case to the FAN HUB.

2.Connect Fans

Plug your fans into the hub:

▫︎ ARGB cable ARGB 5V 3-pin ports (16)
▫︎  Fan motor cable PWM 4-pin ports (16)

3.Connect SATA Power

Plug PSU’s SATA power cable into the FAN HUB’s SATA port.

4.Connect Motherboard Sync (Optional)

▫︎ Connect the 5V ARGB Sync Cable from the HUB to the motherboard’s 5V 3-pin ADD-RGB header (marked as 5V/D/G).

▫︎ Connect the PWM Sync Cable from the HUB to a CPU_FAN / SYS_FAN 4-pin header on the motherboard.

When these cables are connected, the motherboard will control:

▫︎ Lighting effects
▫︎ Fan RPM (PWM mode)

  • ARGB 3-pin to M/B – Sync lighting via motherboard software

  • 2-pin to Reset Button – Switch lighting with a physical button

  • Daisy-Chain to Sub-Fan– For daisy-chained control

  • SATA to PSU – Power source for fans and controller

( To switch the lighting effect control between the Reset/LED button and the M/B software, press and hold the Reset/LED button for about 5 seconds to make the change. Before proceeding, please make sure that the rear fan’s 2-pin cable is connected to the reset button. )
